Alpacas at the Show

Handsome, aloof and looking a little like a cross between a camel and a sheep, the alpaca is one of nature’s strangest creations. Alpacas first appeared at the Show in 1869, but it is only since 1992 that they have been a continual feature.

Hard wearing, lustrous and smooth, alpaca fibre is one of the finest, softest fabrics you can put next to your skin. Put yourself in the front row for one of the Alpaca Fashion Parades and see the ready-to-wear fashions combining glamour, good looks and sophisticated styling. There’s something here for everyone, and many of these garments are available for sale right at the Show.

Visit the Alpaca Showcase to meet and greet ‘Kerry,’ the trained Alpaca, and learn about all aspects of the Alpaca industry from shearing through to producing the quality clothes made from the alpaca fleece.
